Traverse - This 1930 square foot ranch plan is one of our in house designs. The pricing model on this plan is specifically designed to be affordable as a starter home. To keep the costs down as a starter home, it doesn't have all the signature Cutting Edge details but is an efficient well designed plan.
Ludington - This 2065 square foot 2 story plan is another in house design with the pricing model specifically designed to be affordable as a 2 story starter home. Includes a master suite as well as 3 additional bedrooms and laundry upstairs. A generous mudroom, kitchen and dining room on the main floor plus an optional large family room.
Oxford - A 3100 square foot 2 story home with many signature Cutting Edge details. This design is an adaptation of a parade home we built. The second floor is designed differently than the parade home and is set up for family living with all the bedrooms on the second floor including a generous master suite all branching off from a central family room and study area. Two jack and jill bathrooms shared by two bedrooms each. The bedrooms are small since the idea is generous common space with the bedrooms for sleeping only.
Also includes a generous mudroom, large gourmet kitchen, butlers pantry, two sided fireplace, covered porch and walk in pantry with access to garage space for recyclables.
Lake Cottage - Designed for an out of town client this plan had to fit on a very tight lake lot. We worked closely with the client to be sure we incorporated all the elements they were looking for in a very efficient design.

3000 Square Foot Addition - A large 3,000
square foot addition/renovation to a home in Rockford. This project
resembles new construction in the amount of square footage being added
but also has the complexity of renovation since most of the existing
home's interior and exterior was modified. A narrow lot and fact
that the clients will be living there throughout the project added to the
complexity. The client contracted with us to design
and build the addition/renovation. The project added a great room,
sunroom, walk-in pantry, media room, master suite, and two additional
bedrooms. The existing family room became a formal dining and the
kitchen got some upgrades including a large island. The laundry
room was moved from the first floor to the 2nd floor and the
location of the family bathroom was changed to allow for a new
hallway into the addition on the 2nd floor. A new main entry and foyer was an important part of the design. The
master bath features a tiled walk-in steam shower, heated tile
floors, and granite countertops. The home features a two sided
fireplace between the kitchen and great room, whole house audio, and 2nd
furnace and a/c unit. The home also includes signature Cutting
Edge details such as crown mouldings, wainscoting, extensive built-ins,
custom trim pillars and arched pass-throughs.

Family Room/Mudroom Addition - The client came to us needing more efficient space. We added an addition off the side which gave them a large mudroom, a new bathroom and an expanded laundry area. We also added a large family room off the back which allowed them to use the original family room as a dining room. We added a window in the new dining area for better light.

Dining Room Addition - Most designs solve a problem whether it's aesthetics or functionality. In this design, the client needed a larger kitchen and a dining room. We added an addition off the back that serves as a dining room and expanded the kitchen into what was the dinette.

Before/After - This design is a good example of what a design can achieve. Takes a 3 bedroom, 2 bath house and makes it a 5 bedroom 4 bath house all within the same exterior walls. Also opens up and expands the kitchen, adds a mudroom, guest suite on the main floor and in the basement.
Old World Style Home - Custom designed for a client who is waiting for their current home to sell before they build. Includes many signature Cutting Edge details as well as incorporating the client's specific needs.
Ranch Plan - We worked closely with the client to design a home specific to their needs including an ADA shower so they can age in their home, a den off the master, a jack and jill duel guest suite, mother in law suite and kitchen in the lower level. They also had specific exterior details they wanted that we incorporated into the design.
Interior Redesign - The client loved her home but wanted to do an interior renovation to update the look and make it more efficient and also add a gourmet kitchen. We designed a new master suite, turned the current small galley kitchen into a butler's pantry and added the gourmet kitchen in what was largely unused space. This is a good example of what custom design can achieve.
Future Build - A 6200 square foot plan originally designed for one of the owners of Cutting Edge. Includes many great features and efficient space. Check this one out. We would love to build this one for a client.
Master Bath - Not all designs are implemented but this is a good example of the choices we can give a client. In this case, the client wanted to take his small, inefficient upper floor and make a master suite without losing the access to the bathroom from the other bedroom. This design gave the client several options for achieving this.
Sunroom Addition1
Sunroom Addition2 - Sometimes the reason for a design is as simple as wanting more living space. While the concept in these designs is not complicated, we were able to create a design that allowed the clients to see what the addition would look like and allows us to bid it accurately. We often draw a design for this reason, so that we can bid it accurately even if we would otherwise not need it to implement the solution.
2nd Floor Redesign - The third phase of an whole house redesign for a long time client. We had already added a large addition and renovated the entire rest of the home. In this phase we are redesigning the upper floor of the home with focus on the two bathrooms. This is another good example of the choices we can provide a client in the design process.
